All trendsWhat the 1980s AI Photo Trend is
Back to 1985 is our recipe for the 1980s AI photo trend: it takes one photograph of you and gives it back as if it had been taken in the mid-eighties. Your face is kept as it is; everything around it is rebuilt - the grain of 35mm film, the warm light of a street at night, the hair, the clothes and the cars of the time. There is nothing to write and nothing to set: the recipe is ours, it has been tested on hundreds of photographs, and it costs 10 credits and about 35 seconds.
How to make yours
- Add one photographOne picture of yourself, head to waist, with your face clearly visible. It can come from your camera roll or straight from the camera.
- Choose the shape4:5 for a feed, 9:16 for a story, 1:1 for a square. You can ask for up to four versions at once and keep the one you like.
- Press GenerateAbout thirty-five seconds later it is in your library, where only you can see it. Save it to your phone or share it from there.
What makes a good one
- One face, looking towards the camera. A photograph with three people in it leaves the recipe three faces to choose between, and it will not always choose yours.
- Even light beats a hard flash. The scene is relit from scratch, and there is more to work with when the original is not already one bright side and one black one.
- Sunglasses, a hand across the face and heavy beauty filters are the three things that most often come back wrong. Take them off if you can.
- A bigger photograph is a better one. A screenshot of a screenshot has already lost the detail the recipe needs to keep your face yours.
Questions
It is the habit of running an ordinary photograph of yourself through AI so that it comes back looking like a picture taken in the eighties - 35mm grain, the light and the colour of the period, the hair, the clothes and the cars of the time. Back to 1985 is our recipe for it: one photograph in, an eighties photograph of you out, with nothing to write and nothing to set.
No. Back to 1985 is a recipe we wrote and tested. You add a photograph and press Generate; there is nothing to configure and no prompt anywhere in the product.
One. A single picture of yourself, head to waist, with nothing across your face.
Ten credits for one image. Credits come in packs and never expire, or a monthly plan gives you a fresh allowance each month. If a creation fails on our side the credits come straight back.
It is sent to our AI processing provider only to make the result you asked for, and it is never stored on our servers. The creation itself lives in private storage that only your account can reach, for thirty days - or a year on a monthly plan - and then it is deleted for good. Save anything you want to keep.
Yes. What you make is yours to post, and the three shapes on offer are the three those apps use: 4:5 for a feed, 9:16 for a story or a reel, 1:1 for a square.
That is the part the recipe protects first. The face, the bone structure and the skin are carried over from your photograph; the film stock, the light, the clothes and the setting are what 1985 changes.
